Liguanea Chess Club was founded in 1997 by National Chess Master(NM), Geoffrey Byfield. NM Byfield was motivated by the conviction that chess is an enjoyable game from which children could learn a number of life skills. The club was the first of its kind, having a full time staff and a registered office.
