The officer is also responsible for the removal and packing of items from the storeroom for distribution as directed by the Manager.

 

 

 

KEY OUTPUTS

  • Warehouse is kept cleaned and organized; 
  • Goods requested are packed and organized for delivery; Goods delivered are unpacked from delivery vehicles; Stock levels are monitored; 

 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensuring that goods delivered are not damaged and that all items listed on the invoices are accounted for. 
  • Stocking and organizing of goods received in the designated storage areas. 
  • Organizing existing inventory for easy and safe accessibility. Packing and or wrapping of goods approved for distribution. Ensuring that goods removed from stock for distribution are done so based on the first in first out” principle or as directed; 
  • Ensuring the safe loading and unloading of goods onto vehicles as directed. 
  • Opening and closing the storeroom as directed. 
  • Dusting of supplies in the storeroom to ensure that they are free from excessive dust and elements. 
  • Assisting with distributing/issuing supplies to relevant personnel/divisions as per requisition, and having them sign for receipt of goods. 
  • Assisting with the execution of monthly physical checks of stock levels. 
  • Assisting with periodic and annual stocktaking exercises. Performing other related duties assigned by the Manager.

 

 

 

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

  • Both internal and external stakeholders and members of the general public are treated with courtesy, respect, fairness, and objectivity. 
  • Goods are properly organized, packed and handled with care. The storeroom is properly organized. 
  • Stock levels are monitored daily. 
  • First-in first-out (FIFO) rotation is maintained at all times. Confidentiality and integrity are exercised at all times.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES AND SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE

  • Must be able to read and write; and communicate orally; Good time management 
  • Punctual, reliable and trustworthy. 
  • Awareness of health and safety procedures. 
  • Sound integrity and accountability 
  • Good interpersonal relations skills. 

 

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Secondary school leaving certificate 
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a similar capacity. 

 

 

 

SPECIAL CONDITIONS ASSOCIATED WITH THE JOB

  • May be occasionally required to work long hours, including weekends and public holidays as necessary to issue critical goods or equipment; 
  • May be required to assist in lifting heavy items from time to time. Exposure to dust, dirt, and humidity. 
  • Exposure to hazardous fumes; 
  • Exposure to harmful chemicals
