Job Description:

The Special Assistant to the Deputy President provides high-quality support to the Deputy President and the senior management team comprising Vice Presidents, Deans, Associate Vice Presidents and the University Librarian in areas relating to institutional building; strategic planning; academic and administrative policy and procedures. This position is a critical component of the Academic Affairs Division as the incumbent performs coordinating responsibilities for important projects within the Academic Affairs Division including coordinating and monitoring the budget for the Division. 

 

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree in Management/Business Administration or equivalent qualifications.

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

The preferred applicant should: 

  • Have sound knowledge of the University of Technology, Jamaica Act (l999). 
  • Have sound knowledge of the Higher Education Environment locally, regionally and internationally.
  • Possess excellent knowledge of the university organization structure, academic and administrative regulations, policies, procedures, programmes, systems and processes. 
  • Have knowledge and understanding of the mission, goals and objectives of the University. 
  • Have knowledge of budget administration, project management principles, practices, techniques, and tools 
  • Have knowledge of research methodologies and techniques 
  • Have at least (5) years’ experience in an administrative capacity in a higher education setting; and exposure to managing and coordinating projects.
