Core Responsibilities:
- Manage, direct and coordinate the administrative and non-medical functions of the Accident and Emergency Department
- Prepare AnnualBudget for the department and contributes preparation of the Unit’s Operational Plan
- Develop and maintain a system to ensure that adequate and appropriate medical and non-medical supplies and equipment are available on a continuous basis
- Develop usage patterns for supplies used in A & E and prepares and submits procurement requisitions
- Participate in quality improvement and risk management activities as required, including completing Occurrence Report
- In collaboration with the A & E, HOD, Consultant, Nurse Manager and the Operations Manager, provide leadership in the development, revision, and implementation of processes,standards, goals, and objectives for the Accident and Emergency Department
- In collaboration with the A & E Consultant and Nurse Manager, ensure the establishment and communication of expectations/ performance standards to all personnel assigned to A& E to comply with regulatory standards, policies, and procedures
- Collaborate with the Senior Consultant, Nursing Director and Clinical Nurse Manager in identifying learning needs and the orientation of personnel
- Identify opportunities for improving service delivery and operations in the Accident and Emergency Department
- Communicate pertinent information, special instructions, and standards to personnel as well as considers ideas/ suggestions from the staff
- Prepare and submit required documentation and reports in a timely manner as required
- Monitor critical service indicators, identifies opportunities for improvement and guides the implementation of the action plan
- Assist in policy and procedure development and compliance, measurement and enforcement
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Management, Public Administration, Health Services Administration, Operations Management or Public Sector Management
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in Management or in a similar capacity
- Certification in Supervisory Management would be an asset
